Freedom Park


Freedom Park, located in Salvokol, in Pretoria , is a memorial complex in the open air. Everyone who visits it has a great opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the lands of South Africa.

What to see in Freedom Park?

A very young object of the capital of South Africa is not only a monument of the history of the republic, but also the cornerstone of all human humanism.

This park is a product of all the processes that the government of the South African state directed to create and further strengthen the national consciousness of each of its residents. He must understand the great legacy of all the peoples of South Africa, and what exactly so closely binds them.

The Freedom Park is located on the territory of about 52 hectares and was opened on the initiative of Nelson Mandela in 2007. Here, not only stunning scenic views, but the air is constantly haunted by the spirit of freedom, the struggle for human rights, and the eternal flame symbolizes itself.

In addition to the exhibition center and the symbolic artificial lake, one of the main elements of the memorial is the Wall of Names, which only a few people are mentioned who died in eight major conflicts in the history of South Africa (the wars of 1879-1915, during the First and Second World Wars, and also in the days of apartheid). Among all the names, it is worth mentioning the national heroes of the republic: Bram Fisher, Albert Lutuli, Steve Biko and Oliver Tambo.
