Exercises for the thoracic spine

Diseases of the musculoskeletal system are integral companions of a comfortable, sedentary lifestyle, when in order to switch the channel you only need to press the button of the remote. The least movable part of the spine is the thoracic region. And the diseases of this part are least noticeable at the initial stages. Our task is to develop it with exercises for the thoracic spine, even if it does not hurt yet.

For the thoracic region is characterized by scoliosis, osteochondrosis and a hernia. And, it is in this order, because one follows from the other. Therefore, there is no characteristic difference between exercises in osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine or in scoliosis . The difference is only in the sensations in the back.

Exercises

  1. IP - sitting, arms slightly bent in the sides, inhale as much as possible bend and reduce the spatula. On exhalation we relax, but we leave the shoulder blades in the position to which we brought them during the first intake. This exercise is often used in exercise therapy in scoliosis of the thoracic spine. We make 5 such breaths, constantly bending more and more strongly, unfolding our hands, but without returning the blades to the FE.
  2. PI - performed in the knee-elbow position. It is necessary to get up correctly, because the further benefit of the exercise depends on this - the knees are slightly divorced, make sure that the thigh is perpendicular to the surface. The elbows and knees are held in line. On inhalation, we bend as much as possible, rounding the back. We help ourselves with our heads, bring them inside, with arms rounded. On exhalation we are maximally unbent, bent in the back. Repeat 3 - 5 times, changing the distance between elbows and knees.
  3. FE - knee-elbow position. We fix one shoulder with our palm and maximally unfold. In this position we make several pulsating jerks, we repeat to the other side. We perform 5 times per side. With osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine, this exercise is performed evenly on both sides, with scoliosis we give a greater load to the side of the curvature.
  4. FE - knee-elbow position. On exhalation, we bend as much as possible, rounding our backs, we bend at the inspiration. Now we fix the hand on the lower back, turn as much as we can and make several pushing movements, then repeat to the other side.
  5. We sit down on our knees, buttocks on the heels, we lay down on our legs, arms along the body. On inhalation, we bend the thoracic spine as much as possible, stay in this position, relax with exhalation. Repeat - 3 - 5 times. Exercise is most often performed with a hernia of the thoracic spine, as more intense movements cause too much pain.
  6. IP - sitting, legs stretched. The right hand is at the left hip, and the left hand is on the back of the head. We lean forward and turn left. At the inspiration we press on the back of the head, on exhalation we bend even more and turn. From the achieved position, we repeat the reception from the beginning. Then repeat on the reverse side.
