In the northern part of the Balkan Peninsula is a fairly young state - Macedonia . Sovereignty of the country was in 1991, leaving the Yugoslavia. Mountains of Macedonia worth visiting

One of the youngest mountain systems in Macedonia is the Bystra mountain range, located near the capital of the state, the city of Skopje, in the main park of the city of Mavrovo. The highest point of the mountain Bistra is the height of 2102 meters. At the foot of the mountain there is a popular ski resort , which annually meets lovers of winter sports.

The scientists found out that the mountain massif was formed from sediments of Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks. On the surface of the Bistra, you can see various forms of relief, but its main feature is the many caves. The most famous caves are Alilika and Kalina.

In the west of Macedonia, between the valleys of the rivers Black Drin, Peschanaya and Sateski, Mount Karaorman rises. The highest point of the mountain range is located at an altitude of 1794 meters and is called the Eagle's Top.

No less interesting is Mount Maleshevo , located on the border of Macedonia and Bulgaria. The mountain range is dominated by two states, from the Macedonian side it is located on the territory of the administrative units of Berevo and Pahchevo. The peak of Maleshevo is a peak of 1803 meters.

Mount Maleshevo was formed from shale and other sediments, which are now in its lower part. Maleshevo became the habitat of various representatives of flora and fauna. The area occupied by the mountain massif is impressive - it is almost 497 square kilometers. Most of the mountain range belongs to Macedonia. Osogovo is famous for its bizarre reliefs, high peaks, craters of volcanoes and valleys of rivers.

The highest point of the mountain range is Osogovo - Mount Ruen, whose height reaches 2251 meters.

Another mountain of Macedonia, which should be visited, is on the border with Greece and is called Nije . The highest point of the mountain range is the peak of Kaimakchalan, which rises to 2521 meters above sea level. On the border of Macedonia and Albania , perhaps the most popular mountain in the region is the Korab . This mountain system is famous for a dozen peaks, the height of each of which exceeds 2000 meters. And, on the slope of the mountain is the highest waterfall of the state called Mavrovo, originating in Deep River.

The ship is formed from limestone deposits, the slopes of the mountain are covered with age-old oak trees, pine trees and beech. Mount Korab is the highest mountain in Macedonia, the highest point of the mountain system is located at an altitude of 2764 meters.
