Mountains in Albania

Interest in rest in Albania is only gaining momentum. One of the most attractive natural attractions of Albania is the mountains stretching from the north-west to the south-east.

Korab

This mountain, 2764 meters above sea level, is on the border of Albania and Macedonia and is the highest point of both countries. It is this mountain depicted on the coat of arms of Macedonia. The basis of the Korab is limestone. The most common representatives of the flora here are oaks, beeches and pines. And at an altitude of more than 2000 meters there are mountain pastures.

Pinda

In the northern part of Albania is another mountain - Pind. In ancient Greece, it was considered the seat of the Muses and Apollo. Since these deities were responsible for art, and especially for poetry, the mountain became a symbol of poetic art. On the slopes of Pinda grow Mediterranean shrubs, coniferous and mixed forests.

Prokletye

This mountain range is located in several countries, including Albania. Its highest point is Mount Jezerza. In 2009, on the territory of Prokletie, mountain glaciers were discovered.

Yezertz

Jezerza is a mountain on the Balkan Peninsula. It is located in the north of Albania and occupies a boundary position between two regions - Shkoder and Tropoy. Nearby is the border with Montenegro.

Shar-Planina

Shar-Planina or Shar-Dag is a mountain range, most of which is located on the territory of Macedonia and Kosovo and smaller in Albania. The highest point is the Turchin peak, which is 2702 meters above sea level. It consists of crystalline schists, dolomites and limestone. This mountain range is depicted on the coat of arms of the Macedonian city of Skopje.

At the moment, mountain tourism in Albania is much weaker than beach rest , but the country's government is working on the creation of mountain tourist resorts.
