IR-spotlights for video surveillance

Some time ago, a few people could afford to take video at night. In addition, it was inconvenient, because conventional light sources could interfere with resting at night to others, while consuming a significant amount of electricity. At the same time, without backlighting, the cameras reproduce the image without the necessary clarity, extremely blurry. Today, the manufacturer proposes to solve this problem in another way, using infrared projectors for video surveillance.

What is the IR illuminators of CCTV cameras?

IR (or infrared) floodlights are a lighting device that operates on a lot of LED bulbs. They are small in size. But the main thing is not this. The IR illuminator uses LEDs that are not familiar, but infrared radiation. Having a wavelength in the range of 940 -950 nm, such LEDs do not fall into that part of the spectrum that is visible to the human eye. This means that in the switched-on state the street IR projector absolutely does not interfere with the inhabitants of the houses close to the camera and does not attract the attention of intruders. In this case, CCTV cameras record what is happening with a high level of clarity.

In addition, LEDs are characterized by low energy consumption, despite the fact that they work throughout the night. This will significantly save on accounts for energy resources to owners of large trading, warehouse or office space.

How to choose the IR spotlight for video surveillance?

To date, a highly specialized market is represented by a large assortment, choosing the right one often becomes extremely difficult.

One of the most important criteria for buying is the wavelength. If you want the injector to be completely invisible, you need to find products with an indicator of about 900 nm and higher. If you install an IR-injector with a wavelength of 700 to 850 nm, then in total darkness it will be possible to consider the weak glow of the backlight.

Another parameter - detection range - characterizes the distance from which the device clearly distinguishes a human figure. However, this indicator depends on the sensitivity of the camera itself, as well as its resolution. IR long-range projectors can cover about 40 m, small - only 10 m.

From the angle of illumination of the IR-injector also depends on how much the area is illuminated, and hence the angle of the camera. Usually the indicator varies from 20 to 60 degrees.

The infrared projector is powered from the mains with a voltage of 12 volts.
