How to water raspberries?

Like many shrubs, the raspberry harvest depends on the properly organized irrigation. It should always take into account the weather conditions and the soil on which it is grown.

When to water raspberries?

Raspberry does not need to be watered all the time, for it is very important to water from the end of spring and until the first decade of August. This is due to the fact that during this period there is an intensive build-up of green mass, and then fruiting, so it requires the introduction of water.

Experienced gardeners recommend 7 waterings (1 - in May, 2 - in June and July, 1 - in August and 1 - in October), but in fact, you should focus on the condition of the leaves. If they sank down (drooped), then raspberries lack the moisture available in the soil and it is necessary to water it.

How to water raspberries?

There are several ways how you can do this:

  1. Drip irrigation. Considers the most economical and sparing for the root neck.
  2. Watering through grooves. Trenches with a depth of 10-15 cm can be done both from one side of the row and from two. After filling them with water, it is necessary to wait until it absorbs and fill the furrows. The top layer of the soil should then be loosened to a depth of 4-5 cm.
  3. Sprinkling. It is carried out with the help of a hose.

To water raspberries in the heat follows the 1 st and 2 nd way, as this helps to reduce water consumption and prevent the development of various diseases. It is very important to correctly calculate the flow of water, because the soil must be moistened at least 30 cm.

Knowing that many plants negatively relate to the use of cold water, gardeners often wonder whether it is possible to water it with raspberries. This is not recommended, especially in the summer. Water for irrigation should first be heated in the sun, and then poured under the bushes. This will speed up the process of assimilation of moisture by plants.

In addition, that raspberries should be properly watered, it also needs timely pruning and the organization of additional food.
