Historical Museum (Kuala Lumpur)

Creating a museum

Originally, in 1888, the original building was built of wood and brick to house a commercial bank. Subsequently, it was destroyed, and in its place was built a new one using the typical forms of Moorish and Islamic architecture. The architect was A. Norman. The building was designed to harmonize it with surrounding houses.

During the Japanese occupation, the building housed the Telecommunications Department. After the end of the war, the main commercial bank was re-established there until 1965. Later, the building was occupied by the Land Office of Kuala Lumpur, and only on October 24, 1991 it was transferred to the National Historical Museum. It should be noted that this place was very convenient for the museum .

The National Historical Museum conducts continuous research activities, collecting the treasures of the nation.
