Loss of consciousness usually causes others to panic, but fainting is not necessarily a sign of some serious violations. This condition occurs because of a short-term decrease in the intensity of blood flow in the brain.
Fainting is the main cause
As is known, along with blood in the brain tissue, oxygen is supplied, which is necessary for its normal functioning and functioning of the central nervous system. In cases when due to some external or internal factors the blood flow is disturbed, a weak oxygen starvation begins, a person becomes dizzy, there is a loss of orientation in space, and he loses consciousness. There are three generally accepted types of syncope:
- cardiogenic;
- hyperventilation;
- Neurogenic.
Loss of consciousness is typical for each type, but it arises because of various factors.
Cardiogenic causes of fainting:
- cardiac tamponade;
- myocardial infarction;
- disturbance of blood flow in the pulmonary artery (embolism, stenosis, hypertension);
- a decrease in the tone of the left ventricle of the heart.
Hyperventilation causes of syncope in women:
- bradycardia;
- rapid breathing due to strong emotional or mental stress;
- panic attack ;
- gassing;
- vegetative crisis.
Neurogenic syncope - causes:
- a sharp change in position (in a vertical position);
- vasodepressor disorder (loss of consciousness at the sight of blood, in attacks of phobias, with lack of fresh air, etc.);
- increase of pressure inside the chest in the diaphragm area, occurs with a strong cough or difficulties with bowel movement.
It is also worth noting that in women, a sudden syncope can have causes that are not dangerous at all, for example, loss of consciousness is characteristic of early pregnancy.
Frequent syncope is the cause
If you are subject to this condition often enough, you should think about chronic diseases of the nervous and cardiovascular system. As shown by medical research, regular loss of consciousness can be a sign of the development or exacerbation of migraine, diabetes, vegetovascular dystonia.
Diseases that provoke an unconscious attack:
- hypotension;
- Parkinson's disease;
- hydrocephalus;
- heart disease;
- stroke, transient ischemic attacks;
- hysterical neurosis;
- aortic stenosis;
- epilepsy .
Moreover, the cause of syncope is often brain tumors that are amenable to treatment in the early stages with timely diagnosis.
Fainting with seizures - reasons
Usually this type of loss of consciousness is associated with epilepsy. On the one hand, this disease really contributes to the occurrence of convulsive seizures, during which sometimes there is a syncope. In fact, this disease is not always a factor provoking a violation of blood flow in the brain.
Convulsive syncope causes such reasons:
- insufficient supply of blood and, consequently, brain oxygen;
- increased intracranial pressure;
- deformities of the cervical vertebrae for various reasons, even as a result of long-term postpartum trauma;
- destruction of the trunk of the spinal cord;
- spasms of the carotid sinus (constant muscle tension in the neck area, mostly men suffer);
- damage to the brain due to mechanical damage (injury, shaking).
It is also worth noting that fainting with seizures can occur against a background of a severe infectious disease due to a violation of blood composition, an increase in body temperature.
