The princedom was seized by turmoil, the people began to rebel, and the boyars rushed to return the legitimate prince to the throne. Returning to Murom, Peter reigned with his wife to an advanced age, praying in the old age of the Lord that he should rest in peace on the same day and in the same grave with his beloved. They took the funeral of those who took the veil of the spouses on July 8, but separated the bodies, as required by the laws of the Church. Suddenly the next day the remains of Peter and Fevronia miraculously united. Since then, the holy spouses have been considered patrons of the Christian marriage.
