DTP revaccination

Vaccinations are used as an effective means of preventing diseases by dangerous viral infections, such as whooping cough, measles, tetanus, rubella, poliomyelitis, diphtheria and others. Since their disease in childhood, especially in infancy, can lead to death or disability.

One of the very first vaccines, which are beginning to be done since 3 months, is DTP . But in addition to the supposed three doses, so that the vaccine course was considered complete, it is necessary to make it a revaccination.

In this article, we will consider when a vaccination for DTP vaccination is done, why it is needed, and how it is transferred.

What is DTP revaccination and timing

The entire course of vaccination against whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria consists of three vaccinations that are given at three, six and nine months of age, and also a booster or 4th DTP, which must be done according to the vaccination schedule approved by the Ministry of Health at 18 months. But since any vaccination (and this especially) needs to be done to a healthy child, the schedule may change because of the child's illnesses. In this case, the DTP revaccination is done 12 months after the third DPT done. If you do not do DPT revaccination before four years, then after vaccination is already done by another vaccine - ADP (not containing pertussis component).

Sometimes mothers do not understand why they need a booster vaccine, if three vaccinations have already been made, they try to avoid it, but it's in vain. These vaccinations form a long-term immunity to these infections, and revaccination - fixes it.

The final fixation of the effect is the revaccination, conducted at the age of 6-7 years and 14 years, with the drug ADS.

Possible reactions to DTP revaccination

As with any vaccination, after DTP revaccination may appear complications:

All these consequences can be removed using antipyretic drugs (paracetamol, ibuprofen, nurofen), analgesics and antihistamines (fenistil, suprastin), and to remove redness - kefir compress, iodine mesh, tracivazine.

It is advisable to prepare the baby's organism for vaccination: drink antiallergic preparations in advance for 1-2 days, and for children who are prone or suffering from allergies - get an allergist's advice.

Behavior rules after DTP revaccination

Having made a revaccination, one should adhere to certain recommendations:

  1. After the clinic should not walk in a crowded place (playground, kindergarten). Walking in the fresh air is even desirable, but without contact with other children.
  2. For prevention on the first day put the antipyretic candle and two days of giving antihistamines, at the dose recommended by the pediatrician.
  3. Three days constantly monitor the temperature of the child's body.
  4. Do not introduce new foods, give plenty of drink and feed lean food.
  5. Do not bathe for three days.

Contraindications to DTP revaccination

If there were severe reactions to previous DTP vaccinations, expressed by allergic skin rashes, fever, seizures, etc., then subsequent vaccinations and revaccination with this drug are canceled altogether or replaced with another.

Do or not do revaccination of DPT depends only on parents who know the organism of their child better than all doctors. Therefore, if there was no reaction to previous vaccinations, it is usually not available for revaccination, so you should not be afraid of it.
