Unfortunately, in recent years, an increasing number of different musculoskeletal pathologies have been observed among children. Frequency of occurrence of diseases of the musculoskeletal system has increased 2.5 times in the last ten years. Second place after rickets is Blount's disease. This disease is a deformation of the tibia. Such a deformation externally manifests itself in the fact that the child's legs are bent into the "wheel".
Erlacher Blount's disease in children: causes
The following causes of this disease can be distinguished:
- congenital anomaly of development, represented as a lesion in the epiphyseal part of the tibia;
- early walking;
- overweight;
- the child did not go through the crawl period.
Blount's disease in children: signs
In the case of the presence of the disease, the child may have the following symptoms:
- increased fatigue;
- calf shank;
- lameness;
- disproportional ratio between the length of the lower and upper limbs of the child (shortening of the legs);
- flat feet;
- The muscles of the lower leg are, as a rule, shortened and atrophied.
Blaunth's disease in childhood: treatment
This or that type of treatment is chosen based on the following factors:
- stage of the disease;
- features of its course;
- the amount of deformation available;
- age of the child.
Treatment, as a rule, operative. In such a case, corrective osteotomy is performed (dissection of the leg bone). If the severity of the disease is small and does not cause serious inconvenience to the child, then the operation to restore the motor function is not recommended.
To correct gait and erection, the child uses the following methods and means:
- plaster casts;
- special brackets;
- non-cuffed orthopedic devices;
- massage;
- physiotherapy.
If the disease is not treated, the deformation will progress.
With properly selected treatment, the prognosis is usually favorable.
It should be remembered that with timely detection of the disease and adequate treatment, it is possible to help the child firmly stand up and become absolutely healthy.
