Care for a newborn boy

Care for a newborn (though a boy, even a girl) always scares the future mommy. After all, she, most likely, has never faced this process before, and does not know what can and can not be done. Moreover, there is an opinion that the hygiene of the newborn boy is somewhat different, from the hygiene of the girl. After consulting with friends or mom, the young mummy, as a rule, is mixing all her thoughts in her head, and she does not understand at all who is right and how to take care of the newborn boy properly. Therefore, we suggest that future and present mummies become familiar with the main features of caring for their heir.

How to bathe a newborn boy?

Almost every young mother is interested in this question. And many of them believe that there is a difference in the processes of bathing a newborn boy and girl. It should be noted that if Mom is confident that boys and girls are bathed in different ways, then most likely this opinion was imposed on her by the grandmother (or even great-grandmother) of the newborn. In what way does the older generation see the difference in bathing infants of different sexes? The difference, as a rule, is one. They believe that during bathing a small boy needs to push back the foreskin and wash the head of the penis. Most often this position is explained by the fact that dirt accumulates under the foreskin, which can lead to various inflammations, and even diseases.

And now let's think logically. Why did nature envisage creating a newborn boy with a closed head of the penis? Perhaps it was then that before the time there did not get germs and dirt? And pushing aside the skin and washing the head, my mother personally enters there extraneous microorganisms! Even if her hands are sterile (which almost never occurs) and she does this procedure with boiled water (which is also far from ideal).

Perhaps some moms will argue that under the foreskin really accumulates dirt, which they saw with their own eyes. But this, in fact, proves that the mother herself contributes to the introduction of mud under the foreskin. After all, when she opens the head for the first time, then she does not see there any signs of excretion, dirt or redness. All these troubles appear already in the second (fifth, tenth, hundredth) times, when the skin becomes mobile, and there are no obstacles for the penetration of foreign microorganisms.

All modern doctors do not recommend touching the foreskin. If you have doubts or suspicions, it is better to see a doctor, and do not show any doubtful initiative.

How to properly wash a newborn boy?

And in this matter there are no fundamental differences - the boy in front of you or a girl. Wash the newborn with each change of diaper. Here the question arises quite logically, but why should the boy be tempted? This is done by ordinary running water, the temperature of which is approximately equal to body temperature. But this does not mean that you need to constantly check the temperature with a thermometer. It's enough that you personally feel the temperature is comfortable.

Boys and diapers

Speaking of newborn boys, the question of the harmfulness of diapers invariably raises. Again, the fact that boys can not use diapers, say not doctors, but all-knowing grandmothers of this boy. But since the opinion of grandmothers we already know, we need to learn another point of view.

Doctors do not consider the problem of "boys and pampers" worth any attention at all. They agree that the skin temperature under the diaper is really higher than the skin temperature without it. But the difference is only 2 degrees! This is absolutely not a critical indicator. And if you compare the supposedly existing harm to male health, brought by diapers, and the harm brought by lying in wet diapers - then the first is undoubtedly much less!
