Water hardness for mosses is not critical. The only thing that should be observed is a periodic renewal of 20 to 30% of water to give the aquarium and all plants fresh mineral substances.

At first, while the moss does not take root on the substrate, it can be tied or stitched with small stones. However, there are species that do not need such strengthening. Mosses are a great option for aquarium decoration, different kinds of them will look good both in the foreground, and on the middle and back landscapes.

Types of aquarium mosses

Aquarium moss Phoenix got its name from the side leaves with elongated plates that resemble the feathers of this legendary bird. It grows in the form of a fluffy ball and reaches a height of 1-3 cm, and therefore it will be best to look in the foreground of the aquarium. Quickly adheres to the substrate, it can grow both on the ground, and on driftwood, large boulders, a grid. It grows slowly enough.

Aquarium moss Flame is one of the new types of moss, which is still not too often found in artificial reservoirs. Its leaves eventually curl, which resemble the flames, and the harder the water, the stronger this process.

Aquarium moss Yavansky - probably the most popular among aquarists. It is undemanding to the conditions of content, it grows well to any substrate. This moss is characterized by vertical growth, which allows you to place it in the middle or back of the aquarium.

Aquarium moss Kladofora or Sharik - this moss is actually a colony of green algae of microscopic size. They grow in the form of filaments that form a ball. Over time, under favorable conditions, it can multiply many times in size. Does not require attachment to the substrate.
