Antibiotic Augmentin

Antibiotic Augmentin is a new generation antibiotic with a wide range of uses. It is used in the treatment of various infectious diseases, both in adults and in children.

Composition of augmentin

Augmentin has a combined composition, the main active substances in which are amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.

  1. Amoxicillin , acting on the cell walls of pathogenic bacteria, violates their integrity, thereby destroying the pathogenic flora.
  2. Clavulanic acid is a substance that helps amoxicillin, suppressing the protective reactions of bacteria that can adapt to the effects of antibiotics. For example, some microbes produce β-lactamase, an enzyme that deactivates an antibiotic, and clavulanic acid interferes with this process. Therefore, augmentin effectively affects even those microorganisms that are resistant to amoxicillin.

Indication for the use of augmentin

Augmentin after getting into the blood is distributed in the tissues of the whole body, so it can be used to treat inflammation of various organs.

The main indications of the drug are:

Augmentin with angina and sinus

Quite often today, this drug is prescribed for angina and sinusitis, as the studies have proven the high effectiveness of the action of augmentin against the causative agents of these diseases. The course of taking the drug in this case is at least a week.

How to take augmentin?

The preparation is released in the form of a powder for the preparation of a suspension for oral and parenteral administration (intravenous injection), as well as tablets in a film coat. The form of the drug and dosage is prescribed individually depending on the disease and its location, the age and weight of the patient, the severity of the infection process and concomitant diseases, as well as the kidney function of the patient (because the drug is excreted through the kidneys).

For example, a single dose of augmentin in tablets for adults and children over 12 years with moderate disease is 375 mg, and in severe cases - 675 mg.

In order to reduce the likelihood of side effects and to maximize body digestion, augmentin is taken before meals, usually three times a day. Intravenous injection is performed at intervals of 6-8 hours. The minimum course of taking the drug is 5 days.

How to breed augmentin powder?

Augmentin powder is diluted with boiled water at room temperature, gradually adding water to the mark and shaking the bottle. Then leave for 5 minutes to completely dissolve the substances. Immediately before taking the bottle, shake well. For a precise dosage, a cap cap is used. The diluted drug should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a week.

Augmentin and alcohol

Augmentin is a drug with low toxicity and good tolerability. Despite the fact that when combined with ethanol contained in alcoholic beverages, it does not change its properties, taking alcohol during treatment is not recommended due to the additional burden on the liver.
