Who is the archangel?

Every believing person should know who the archangel is. In Orthodoxy this character is a kind of "boss" over other angels. In religion there is a whole hierarchy, which, however, raises some questions even among theologians. After all, according to canonical books, specifically, for example, the Bible, the archangel is only Michael, although the church itself expands this list and includes other characters as well.

Archangels in Orthodoxy

As already mentioned above, this "title" according to the Bible was awarded only to Michael. But the church includes 7 more characters in the list of these saints: Gabriel, Raphael, Varahiel, Selafil, Jehudiel, Uriel and Jerimiel. Thus, the seven archangels are recognized only by the Orthodox Church, but not by the Bible.

True, there is another classification that provides the following list of names: Michael, Lucifer, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Sariel. This list is listed in the book of Enoch, there you can find a description of the archangels and their functions. For example, Raphael is the master of human thought and the healer of man himself.

Each archangel can send angels to a person and thus affect the soul or warn of impending danger or punishment.

Many believers believe that it is necessary to pray to each of the archangels on the days of the week. If we take the list of such petitions to the archangels on the days of the week, then we get the following:

All the texts of petitions are in the most standard prayer book. Sunday prayer is one of the shortest.
