Types of gourami

It is believed that the gurus belong to the family of labyrinthine. If we talk about the birthplace of these lovely fish, then this is the southeast of Asia and the neighboring islands. As a rule, they live in large rivers and small streams. We can say that they are unpretentious.

The usual length for this species is from six to twelve centimeters, however, in an aquarium the fish rarely reach even 10. It is also worth noting that males tend to have a brighter coloration than females.

Varieties of species of gouramis

There are different types of gurus, each of which is interesting in its own way:

  1. Gourami honey red is considered extremely calm, but quite a cowardly fish. It has an oval, elongated and slightly flattened body. The size of the male does not exceed 7 cm, and the female - even less. It is believed that the body of the male of this fish is a little more slender and bright. It is interesting that during spawning the fish changes its color from honey to red.
  2. Another kind of aquarium fish is pearl gourami , having a long, high body with a silvery-violet color.
  3. Flying tiger gourami is one of the most unusual fish. On their body there are special growths, which are called wings.
  4. The next variety - gourami ordinary gold . This fish is good for its peace-loving character. It can safely settle with any other species.
  5. Rainbow gourami - these fish can grow up to eight centimeters. The recommended temperature for the content in the aquarium is 28 degrees.
  6. Pink gourami , sometimes it is called kissing. It is interesting that these fish have teeth right on their thick lips. Gurami in aquarium conditions can grow up to ten centimeters.
