Even minor injuries and injuries to the outer ear, including small scratches, insect bites, frostbite and burns, are dangerous, since they can be infected with bacteria. In such cases, perichondritis of the auricle develops, which is a developed inflammatory process. Sometimes the disease occurs against the background of influenza, otitis, tuberculosis, furuncles near the ear canal, after unsuccessful cosmetic manipulation and piercing.
Symptoms of perichondritis of the auricle and inflammation of the ear cartilage
Two forms of the examined pathology are known, each of which proceeds with some peculiarities.
Symptoms of a serous inflammatory process:
- increase in local temperature;
- swelling of the ear;
- redness of the skin, it glosses, acquires a glossy sheen;
- formation of a dense painful tumor in the ear.
Clinical picture with purulent perichondritis:
- fever, fever up to 39 degrees;
- tuberous edema of the cartilage, not affecting the lobe;
- spilled pulling pain, giving in the neck, whiskey, the back of the head, increasing at palpation;
- cyanotic-burgundy shade of ear skin;
- suppurative softening of tissues;
- in severe cases - detachment of perichondrium, melting and necrosis of cartilage.

To cope with the described disease, it is necessary to develop an integrated approach. Therapy consists of local and systemic anti-inflammatory effects.
Treatment of serous and purulent perichondritis of the auricle includes the following preparations:
1. Antibiotics:
- Tetracycline;
- Erythromycin;
- Oxytetracycline;
- Azithromycin;
- Ecoclave;
- Amoxicillin;
- Levofloxacin and others.
2. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic:

In addition, injections of cephalosporins, sulfonamides, Streptomycin are prescribed.

At the stage of recovery recommended physiotherapeutic procedures - UHF , laser exposure, microwave, UV irradiation.
In advanced cases of perichondritis, surgical intervention is required.
It is worth noting that folk recipes in the pathology examined are ineffective. Moreover, their use is dangerous, because non-traditional methods of treatment temporarily ease the symptoms of inflammation, because of which the patient does not consult a specialist, and the disease progresses rapidly.
