The incubation period of influenza

Acute infectious diseases are easily transmitted by airborne, fecal-oral and domestic routes. Therefore, anyone who has closely communicated with a sick person with ORVI, it is important to know the incubation period of influenza. This will help in time to begin prevention or therapy of pathology, which will significantly accelerate recovery or even prevent infection.

Incubation period of intestinal or gastric flu

The correct name for the disease in question is rotavirus infection . It is a combination of respiratory and intestinal syndrome, transmitted by the fecal-oral route.

The incubation period of this form of ARVI is 2 stages:

  1. Infection. After the penetration of the pathogen into the body, the viruses multiply and spread, accumulating in the mucous membranes. This period lasts 24-48 hours and, as a rule, is not accompanied by any symptoms.
  2. Prodromal syndrome. This stage does not always take place (often the flu begins sharply), it lasts no more than 2 days and is characterized by fatigue and weakness, headache, deterioration of appetite, rumbling and slight discomfort in the abdomen.

The incubation period of the "swine" and "bird flu" virus

Infection with respiratory infections occurs somewhat later than infection with the intestinal or gastric virus.

For "swine" influenza (H1N1), the period of reproduction, spread and accumulation of pathogenic cells in the body is about 2-5 days, depending on the state of the human immune system. The average value is 3 days.

After becoming infected with the bird flu virus (H5N1, H7N9), the symptoms appear even later - after 5-17 days. According to WHO statistics, the incubation period for this type of disease is 7-8 days.
