Jessica Chestane remained dissatisfied with the cover of the LA Times magazine and accused them of racial discrimination

The actress has always been consistent in her support for gender and racial equality, the latter case was no exception. The American tabloid LA Times Magazine dedicated the new December issue to Hollywood's most successful and influential actresses in 2017, blond beauties Annette Bening, Diane Krueger, Margot Robbie, Sirsha Ronan, Keith Winslet and red-haired Jessica Chestane appeared on the cover. Each of them in the outgoing year has shown itself to the maximum, starring in the top films. To blame the bias for the editorial department is difficult, but here Chestane found the reason for the harsh criticism. The reason for the indignation was the cover and an article in which not a word was said about the achievements of actresses with "other skin color".

The cover of the new issue of LA Times Magazine

Jessica Chestane considers it inadmissible to focus only on "white blondes":

"I'm disappointed and I'm sad from the realization that there is not a single woman with a dark skin on the front cover. Admit it, because this year there were a lot of decent films. I enjoyed watching Beatrice at dinner, where Salma Hayek played the main role and this is not the only example. I'm sure that each of us named more than one name of wonderful actresses. The film industry should not confine itself to heroines with white skin color, it must be comprehensive! "

Chestane admitted that she remained dissatisfied with the result of the photo session, although she did not deny the dignity of her colleagues who were with her on the same cover:

"I would like to see emphasis on impartiality in the drafting of such lists by the editorial department. I would gladly become next to many actresses of a different nationality and color. They are worthy to be talked about! And so, it's like a conscious policy of discrimination on the part of the film industry and the press. "
