National History Museum


One of the largest and richest museums in Albania is the National Historical Museum, located in the city of Tirana . It collected about 5 thousand exhibits, which introduce each stage of development of this country.

The antiquity pavilion of the National Historical Museum of Tirana is dedicated to Albanian history. More than 4 hundred archaeological finds are exhibited here, covering the period from the Paleolithic era to the last century of antiquity.

The iconography pavilion was opened later than the others - only in 1999, but this does not prevent it from enjoying great popularity among tourists. Here are collected 65 magnificent icons, painted by the best Albanian painters in the 18th-19th centuries. Despite such a venerable age, the icons are in excellent condition.

In the pavilion of the Middle Ages of the National History Museum of Tirana, exhibits are collected that tell about the history of the country until the 15th century.

An ethnographic pavilion was also opened in the National Historical Museum of Tirana. It exhibits items found in the tombs of Selka. All the exhibits belong to the III century BC and perfectly reflect the spirit of prehistoric Albanian culture.
