History of occurrence

The decision to build a new church for the parishioners of the Stigberget area was accepted by the City Council of Gothenburg in 1906. It was determined that the building should accommodate at least 1000 people, but the design should be simple in order to limit costs. Thanks to a successful layout in the competition, the project of the talented Swedish architect Siegfried Erikson was won. The construction of the Mastuggschurkan church was started in 1910 and ended with a grand opening on October 11, 1914.
