Ikebana is usually made of natural material: dry and fresh flowers, leaves, branches. It is very unusual to make ikebans from leaves of trees and vegetables (cabbage, parsley, celery). Unexpected and interesting will turn out ikebana, if you use autumn berries and fruits, planted on branches. From the article you will learn: the basic rules of drawing up ikebana and how to make an autumn ikebana with your own hands.

Rules for drawing up ikebana

When drawing up ikebana, it is necessary to remember that ikebana is not a bouquet, it does not tolerate splendor. The basis of ikebana is composed of three symbol elements: syn (sky), soe (human), hikae (earth).

Ikebana is built according to the following rules:

1. All elements are installed asymmetrically, forming a triangle, while the elements must be in different planes.

2. The vessel for ikebana should correspond to the plant material used, be monophonic and without a pattern. Rough pottery is suitable for heavy colors and large branches; Field flowers look good in faience or wooden vessels and in wicker baskets; for roses, tulips, carnations and lilies of the valley - glass or porcelain vases. In the role of "vase" you can use any objects you like.

3. The proportions of the three main elements are predetermined by the size of the vessel: the length of the stem of the first element - sky (syn) - is equal to the sum of the length of the diameter and the height of the vessel multiplied by 1.5.

4. The relation and arrangement of elements-symbols:

5. Branches in the vessel are always fixed in one of four points: right, left, front, rear. To do this, use a special device for fixing flowers - kenzan or piaflor (porous sponge), if they are not, then use plasticine or a plastic bag filled with expanded clay.

6. After the arrangement of the main elements, the space is filled with plant material of a second degree of significance.
