Feeding a nursing mother after giving birth

Proper nutrition after childbirth is one of the bases of the child's health and well-being. The composition of the ration of a nursing mother can be divided into two periods: the first - from the first days after the birth and up to six months; the second - after six months.

In the first period, the diet should be more strict. This will help to avoid pain in the tummy of the baby, excessive gas generation, colic and allergic reactions. Mom should remember that everything she uses for food, partially falls into her baby through breast milk.

Diet after delivery is gradually expanded, introducing new products in small amounts. Do this in the morning, so that during the day you can observe the reaction of the child's body. Some mothers keep a diary of food after childbirth. It is recorded when a new product is introduced and what reaction the child's body has been observed. In the case when the baby has shown hypersensitivity to any new component, it should be excluded from the mother's nutrition after giving birth for at least a month. After this period, it is likely that a negative reaction will be absent.

Eating immediately after birth

During childbirth, the female body experiences extreme stress. In case of complications, the female organs may be injured, often after the birth, hemorrhoids arise. Therefore, in the first days after delivery, the food should be gentle and contain a minimum amount of solid food.

In the first three days a woman needs to consume a large amount of liquid (not less than a liter per day). It can be a compote of dried fruits, a little sweetened with warm tea, decoctions of some herbs, for example, nettles. Starting from the third day, the amount of liquid restricts and gradually introduces solid food.

Begin feeding the nursing mother after giving birth with products with mandatory heat treatment. Gradually introduced porridge: oatmeal, buckwheat, millet, wheat. Porridge is cooked on water and a minimum amount of salt is added. Instead of sugar, it is better to add sugar syrup or honey. But honey can cause allergic reactions, you need to be very careful with it.

You can eat stewed vegetables, while limiting the use of potatoes to a minimum, and cabbage generally still need to be excluded. Vegetables are prepared in vegetable oil. Vegetable soups are also allowed.

From the seventh day after the birth, the menu is expanded and the food includes cheese, boiled beef and low-fat fish (they should be boiled twice), any nuts, except for walnuts. The amount of liquid used can be increased to two liters. But the feeling of thirst will still remain a little.

Nutrition of a woman after childbirth

The nutrition of a young mother after childbirth, which can not breast-feed a baby since the first days, or for some reason does not plan to do it at all, is slightly different from that of a nursing woman after childbirth. In such cases, you need to use less fluid. Mums, whose babies were born through cesarean section, from the third day are allowed to eat mashed potatoes, scrolled meat and chicken broth. You can drink a little sweetened tea, jelly and non-acid compotes.

The nutrition of young mothers will significantly expand closer to the half-year. The main rule, which should not be forgotten, is not to add to your diet products that can harm your baby: containing preservatives, carcinogens and artificial additives.

Also, care must be taken to products that often cause allergic reactions: grapes, caviar, chocolate, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, oranges, kiwi. Carbonated drinks will cause excessive gas production and colic .
