Electric boilers for heating a private house

Unfortunately, gasification has not made it to all corners of our country. Therefore, the owners of private houses have to think about how to heat their homes in winter. The old way of warming the house with an oven is, unfortunately, not for everyone - troublesome, inconvenient. Therefore, many turn their attention to electric boilers for heating the house. But it's not so simple. We will talk about the features of such a heating system and the nuances of buying an electric boiler.

What is heating with electric boiler?

The heating system with electric boiler is like gas heating: from the electric boiler there are pipes and heating radiators and for drainage, there are temperature sensors, expansion tank and a circulation pump. It is the electric boiler that converts the received electricity into thermal energy. That's just such a type of heating is safer, since there is no danger of a fire due to a lack of flame. Also there is no need to arrange a chimney, because there are no products of combustion.

Electric boilers for heating a private house have a rather high efficiency - about 95-98%. They have small dimensions and are easily mounted almost anywhere on the wall or floor. The advantages of such products include silent operation. Unfortunately, the heating from the electric boiler has a number of shortcomings, which should also be taken into account. First, the tariffs for electricity today are quite high. In addition, for sufficient heating, you will need to install an electric boiler with sufficient capacity (over 12 kW), and therefore have to use a three-phase 380 kW network. In addition, when the power is cut off, the boiler will not work.

How to choose an electric boiler for heating?

Among the electric boilers offered by the market there are products with TEN, electrode and induction. The most popular are electric boilers with TEN. In the tank of such a boiler there are several tubular heaters. It is they who heat the water in the tank, the entire coolant, which then spreads heat throughout the house. Instruments with TEN are inexpensive, since their design is simple and straightforward. By the way, as a heat carrier when heating a boiler with a TEN, you can use not only water, but also antifreeze or oil. There are such boilers and drawbacks in the form of scaling (and hence the reduction in efficiency) and considerable size.

Induction boilers are devices that consist of a dielectric with a coil wound on it and a core. When the current is turned on, movement of charged particles (induction) occurs in the core, which causes it to heat up and give off heat to the heat carrier. Induction boilers have small dimensions, high efficiency, long life. True, such products are expensive.

In electrode (ion) boilers, electrodes heat water due to the appearance of an alternating current. Such devices are compact, relatively inexpensive and safe. However, due to the fact that the electrodes dissolve over time, they will have to be replaced. In addition to the type of electric boiler, potential buyers should pay attention to other nuances. Economical electric boilers for heating are equipped with a temperature sensor and a thermostat. Thanks to this, when the coolant is heated to a certain temperature, the boiler's operation capacity will decrease, which saves electricity.

In winter it is possible to heat water with a domestic hot water supply system. For this we recommend electric boilers for heating the house two-circuit. However, devices with TEN will "eat" a lot of electricity, and induction and electrode devices in this sense will be cheaper.

When planning the heating of the electric boiler apartment or house, consider such a factor as the power of the device. Today, devices with a capacity of 6 to 60 kW are available that can heat rooms ranging from 60 to 600 m & sup2. Calculation of the required capacity is simple - the area of the house should be divided into ten. The resulting number is the optimal power of the electric boiler.
