Visomitin (Skulachev drops, Skulachev ions) are eye drops with antioxidant and keratoprotective action. On sale these eye drops are present under the name of vizomitin, but in everyday life they are often called Skulachev drops, by the name of the inventor of the drug.
Composition and effect of drops of Skulachev
Drops are a transparent colorless liquid, are issued in 5 ml vials with a dropper.
The main active substance of the drug is plastoquinonyl decyltriphenylphosphonium bromide in a concentration of 0.155 mg per 1 ml of the solution. As auxiliary substances are used:
- purified water;
- sodium chloride;
- sodium dihydrogen phosphate;
- sodium hydroxide;
- benzalkonium chloride;
- hypromellose.
The active substance has a high antioxidant activity, and in addition stimulates the production of tears, improves the composition of tears, improves some metabolic processes in the tissues of the eye. Drops eliminate the feeling of discomfort in the eye, dryness, sensation of foreign body, reduce irritation and redness.
Indications for the use of drops Skulacheva
Eye drops of Skulachev are used:
- with eye irritation associated with prolonged work at the computer;
- for the treatment of age-related changes in the lacrimal gland;
- against the "dry eye" syndrome;
- in the complex therapy with irritation of the mucosa and inflammatory diseases of the eye.
To date, studies have been carried out on the use of Skulachev drops from cataracts and glaucoma . Although the effectiveness of droplets in these cases is not accurately established, nevertheless, they are periodically prescribed as part of complex therapy in the treatment of age-related cataracts.
Contraindications for use are cases of individual intolerance of the drug or its components.
Dosing and Administration
