Thermometer for aquarium

The modern market for fish products offers several options for thermometers for the aquarium, which differ in the way they measure temperature , and also in accuracy. But what is the best thermometer for an aquarium?

Internal thermometers

Internal thermometers are placed directly in the water and give information about changes in its temperature.

The simplest of them is a liquid thermometer for an aquarium created on the basis of lifting or lowering an alcohol column, depending on the temperature change. Such a thermometer is fixed inside the aquarium on a special sucker. The advantage is a low price, a disadvantage - some error in the indications.

An electronic thermometer for an aquarium with an external remote sensor is distinguished by the accuracy of the data, but it costs more than an alcohol thermometer. In it, the temperature sensor is a thermistor built into a separate sealed capsule. Due to the ability of the thermistor to rapidly change its resistance depending on the temperature, the microprocessor can continuously monitor and process data coming from such a sensor and output digitally to the display.

External thermometers

Such devices do not require immersion in aquarium water to obtain data on water temperature. These thermometers are not required to be washed frequently, they do not take up space inside the aquarium and can serve for a very long time.

The thermometer-sticker for the aquarium works thanks to the property of a special paint to change its color when heated. It is fixed on the outside of the aquarium, and therefore can react to changes in air temperature near the artificial reservoir. This thermometer is also called a thermochromic thermometer for an aquarium. Also, such a thermometer can be found under the name of a liquid crystal. Many are wondering how to use a liquid crystal thermometer for an aquarium. So, it should only be glued to the outer wall of the aquarium and monitor the temperature changes.
