Dried melon in the oven - recipe

The most affordable way to dry vegetables is to prepare them in the oven. The process of preparation does not require you to special efforts, but it takes a lot of time to dry the juicy melon.

Before you make a dried melon yourself, prepare a pan. Cover the baking pan with parchment and oil well. Peel the melons from the seeds and peel, and then divide into cubes of equal size with a side no more than 3 cm: the smaller the pieces, the more they will dry out. Spread the melon on a baking sheet and leave to dry first at 120 degrees for about 15 minutes, and then dry the pieces, reducing heat to 80 degrees, for another 1.5 to 2 hours.

If you do not know how to store dried melon, then there are no differences from the storage of other dried fruits. It is enough to choose a dry place and put a melon in it in a paper bag or in a glass jar.

How do dried melons in an electric dryer?

With the electric dryer, the cooking process is made even easier. Due to the ability to set a low temperature for a long time, melons can dry out evenly, without burning and with a minimum of interference from the side.

After cleansing the melon, divide it in half, remove the seeds and cut the fruit into thin slices. Put each of the slices on the bottom of the dryer, making sure that they do not come in contact with each other. Leave trays of melon to dry at 60 degrees for 10-12 hours.

Dried melons at home

If you harvest fruits in the summer, then you can take advantage of the seasonal heat and prepare dried melons under the sun. Peeled melons divide into slices and lay on gauze. Cover the pieces with a gauze cut from above and leave it under the scorching sun until it comes. Keep the pieces warm and dry at night, and continue drying with the release of the sun. In fairly dry and sunny weather, slices of dried melon should be ready in about three days.

Dried melons can be braided into a pigtail or put slices in paper or plastic bags with a lock for nothing. Ready dried fruits can be eaten on their own or used for harvesting compotes and making sweets.
