Dermatitis - treatment, ointments and creams

As a rule, treatment starts with non-hormonal drugs, since they have fewer contraindications and side effects. Tools such as Bepanten or Panthenol are suitable even for children. Their main function is to moisturize the skin and start the regeneration processes in the cells. The action is mild, the main active ingredient is vitamin A.

If drugs of this type were ineffective, and the place of irritation on the skin began to get wet and fester, you can try drying drugs:

Do not use these products when cracks and severe dryness occur. Their main feature is the antimicrobial and antifungal effect.

Antibacterial ointments and creams are most often used when dermatitis on the hands, or other part of the body is associated with an infectious process. It can be a light antibiotic:

• Erythromycin.

The most effective antifungal drug is Exoderyl .

Antiallergic creams and ointments are used to treat dermatitis on the face, or the scalp. It can be, for example, Fenistil or Elidel. These are serious drugs with pronounced effect, help with contact and atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis of any origin.

Hormonal ointments mainly belong to the category of glucocorticoid agents. They are associated with the pituitary and adrenal glands, but do not have systemic effects. These drugs are used only if other drugs can not fix the problem. Here is a list of the most popular tools:

When choosing a medicine, it is important to remember that it is always necessary to start with the weakest means, then, if necessary, go to a stronger one and complete the course of treatment, gradually reducing the dosage. So you reduce the number of side effects and avoid withdrawal syndrome.
