More about attractions

The Chess Park, dedicated to table games, is located in Japan, in the city of Osaka , on the shore of one of the city's canals. All the equipment of the park - benches, paths, tables, children's slides, etc. - are executed in black and white chess subjects.

In the Chess Park you can find several playgrounds: chessboards, checkers or go boards, backgammon tables. In the Japanese Chess Park, tourists are usually not very much, but local residents come here whole families.

The Chess Park in Japan was opened in 2011. The author of the project was the architectural bureau of TOFU Architects. Works were carried out jointly with the Laboratory of Urban Design of Kansai University and Yuji Tamai.

What is interesting about the park?

All objects of the Chess Park are made of ecological materials - pressed cardboard, paper, wood, textiles and vinyl, stones and stainless steel were also used. This is a worthy example of the fact that modern facilities do not always require substantial expenses and investments. In addition, the creation and design of the park took only 9 days.

Previously, it was a somewhat neglected place in an urban city. City authorities to create the park is not spent at all: the design of the old pier was held as part of a music festival. As a result, this installation of chess space appeared in the eastern part of Nakanoshima Park.

Here you can not only walk, but also play a game of chess or watch the game of other holidaymakers.

How to get to the park?

Near the park is the station Naniwabashi Station, where the city electric trains stop. Independently moving around the city of Osaka , navigate on the coordinates: 34.692521, 135.507871.
