WFD in gynecology

WFD, or a separate diagnostic curettage, in gynecology is used to diagnose diseases, and can also be used as a medical procedure. This manipulation is considered one of the most common and often used interventions in gynecology.

WFD - indications for use

The examination of the WFD makes it possible to clarify the state of the uterine mucosa in benign and malignant processes. As medical manipulation, the WFD is performed under the following conditions:

During the operation of the WFD, pathological formations are removed in the uterine cavity and in the cervical canal.

Scraping technique

We will disassemble in more detail, as do the MFD of the mucous membrane of the uterus and the cervical canal. This manipulation is performed under intravenous anesthesia. Diagnostic RVD is recommended to be performed a few days before the onset of menstruation. Before scraping should be screened. The analyzes required for carrying out the WFD are listed below:

After the examination and in the absence of contraindications go to the main stage:

  1. Firstly, the CDW of the cervical canal is performed, the material collected is collected for further investigation.
  2. The uterine cavity is probed and the dilators are gradually introduced.
  3. In the uterine cavity a metal curette is inserted and scraping of the mucous membrane is performed.
  4. All received material (separately from the uterus and cervical canal) is sent to a laboratory study of tissues. Histology at the RVD is an important stage of the study. Since it shows all the pathological processes occurring in the distant mucosa.

For greater convenience, WFD uterus is combined with hysteroscopy or ultrasound. WFD with hysteroscopy allows for this manipulation under visual control and makes it possible to control the completeness of mucosal removal.

Postoperative period

This manipulation is relatively safe, so there is no specific treatment in the postoperative period. As a consequence of the WFD, moderate bleeding may be observed lasting about a week.

Treatment after RDV is to take antibiotics in order to prevent the development of infectious and inflammatory complications. To monitor the results of treatment in a few days (usually a week later), a second ultrasound is prescribed.
