Types of walking on skis

Skiing is very useful for health, it allows you to train endurance, breathing and physical fitness in general. For a beginner skier of any age, you need to correctly determine the load, taking into account the speed of movement, distance and atmospheric conditions. At an air temperature below 20 degrees, you should not go out on a ski trip. At first it is enough to pass 5 km for one workout, it should last no more than an hour with a frequency of 2-3 times a week. To master the ski skills you need to choose not steep slopes, with an even surface and the appropriate level of preparation for the types of walking on skis.

Walking with skate on skis

The form of walking got its name from the similarity of movements, imitating a skating course. This technique was originally envisaged as a way to learn how to perform turns with overstepping and pushing with sticks in a sliding step. But with the advent of plastic skis, the form of walking became a full-fledged technique, allowing to develop a rather high speed of skiing.

There are the following types of ridge run:

The method of walking is to push the edge of the sliding ski aside, transfer weight to another ski. Then do a similar movement on the other leg. There are no breaks between the steps in the cycle of this technique. When the turn is executed, hands are actively working, if this is allowed by the technique chosen. Pushing hands should be done simultaneously or alternately, depending on the descent and dynamics of the legs.

Regardless of the level of skill and the way of skiing, the key to success is also the competent selection of skis, ski boots and the correct preparation of equipment for getting out on the snow.
