Triumphal Arch

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the ten most visited places in Brussels . In addition, it is a masterpiece of architecture, and this is also the entrance to the Jubilee Park , which was created by King Leopold II in 1880 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the independence of Belgium .

What to see?

Just look at this beauty: the triple arch is 45 meters wide and 30 meters high. It is recognized as the widest arch in the world and the second highest in height after the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile (Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile) in Paris.

The entire arch is decorated with sculptural creations, the creators of which are the most famous Belgian artists. At the top of one of the main attractions of the country is the bronze cavalry, run by a Belgian, who raised the flag - a sign that his native land finally gained independence. The arcades, in turn, are decorated with figures of young men, embodying each province of Belgium. And on both sides of the Arc de Triomphe are semi-circular structures in which the museums of the army, cars , as well as the Royal Museum of History and Art are located.

Passing through the arch, visitors enter the Jubilee Park, decorated in a Franco-British classic style with wide avenues, neoclassical statues and temples in the British style.

How to get there?

To look at one of the symbols of Brussels , use the services of public transport . Chevalerie stop can be reached by bus number 61. Also near the arch there is a Gaulois stop (buses # 22, 27, 80 and 06).
