During a trip to Belgium, you may get bored to look at monuments and other attractions . To somehow dilute the experience, go to the park Payree Dise. It is located just 60 km from Brussels , so in an hour you will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of African savannas, Chinese pagodas and tropical forests.
History of the park
Pairi Daisa (fenced garden) is the largest botanical garden and zoo in Belgium and one of the largest in Europe. It was opened on May 11, 1994. Originally it was used as a bird park and was called "Paradisio". Over time, the territory of the park grew, transformed and populated by new inhabitants. By the way, the area on which the park Pairi Daisa, formerly belonged to the Cisterian monks. It was here in the Middle Ages that the Cambron abbey was located.
Features of the park
Park Payra Dyza is unique in that it is not attached to a certain city. This allows him to grow in size every year. The park is an autonomous territory, on which are located the ruins of ancient buildings, architectural monuments and an ancient abbey. Among all the architectural sights are botanical gardens, zoos, oceanariums and terrariums. This cohabitation does not interfere with the inhabitants of Payry Dise. At the beginning of 2016, the park had 5000 individuals belonging to 600 different species.
The Pairi Dise Botanical Garden, whose area is 55 hectares, is divided into several theme parks, or worlds. Among them:
- the world "Gate of Heaven", in which exotic and waterfowl, monkeys and turtles live;
- the world of the "Gates of the Depths" - an area stylized under the submarine "Nautilus" and serving as the habitat for fish, mollusks, octopuses and other representatives of marine fauna;
- world "City of the Immortals", which is a Chinese garden with pagodas, a tea house and enclosures with large pandas;
- the world "Valley of the Spring", located on the territory of the abbey and serving as the habitat of birds of prey, as well as tapirs, capybar and anteaters;
- the world "Land of origin of life", stylized as an African village and savannah, in which giraffes, antelopes, leopards and other African animals live;
- the world of the "Lagoon", consisting of three ponds and the moored ship Mersus Emergo, in which the terrariums are located;
- the world of "Moore Moore", which is inhabited by representatives of the Australian, Tasmanian and New Zealand fauna;
- world "Kingdom of Ganesha", serving as the habitat of Indian elephants and other animals from Asia.
All the worlds of Payree Dise fully correspond to the chosen theme. Moving from one park to another, each time you dive into a new atmosphere.
On the territory of the park there are cafes, playgrounds and attractions. All animals are raised in captivity, so they easily come into contact with visitors. You can buy special food and feed goats, pigs, monkeys, giraffes and lemurs directly from your hands. The latter, incidentally, would not mind climbing the shoulder to the visitor and eating fruit right there.
Every year the zoo Pairi Daisa receives various awards for merits in the field of breeding, sharing and keeping animals. And this is understandable, because there are comfortable conditions for residents and visitors. Visiting the Paire Dise park is a unique opportunity to get to know the animals in an environment that is as close as possible to their natural habitat.
