Town Hall Building

South Africa surprises with a variety of attractions and cultural values, one of the most interesting is in Durban - the Durban City Hall. The Town Hall was built in 1910 in the Edwardian neo-baroque style. The building is considered an exact copy of the municipality in Belfast, which is located in Northern Ireland. Today, the City Hall of the coastal city of Durban performs an important function - it houses the National Museum of Science and the Art Gallery, so it is a popular destination for tourists and the local population.

What to see?

The very building of the City Hall is a tourist attraction, it attracts tourists with its majestic dome, which rises above the ground as much as 48 meters - this can be compared with a twenty-story house. The main dome is complemented by four more, decorated with statues. Each of them has meaning and symbolizes literature, art, music or commerce. Therefore, statues are important not only for architecture, but also for the history of the city.

The interior of the Town Hall is no less beautiful - the building is decorated with colorful stained-glass windows and exquisite balustrades. Therefore, getting inside, the guests of the Town Hall can see the amazing play of light that makes its way through the stained glass windows.

Where is?

The Town Hall building is located in Durban at the intersection of Samora MAchel St and Anton Lembede St. The next block is the National Art Museum of Durban and the Museum of Old Courts.
