The Laguna Garzon circular bridge

The circular bridge Laguna Garzon is known all over the world for its original shape. It is located in the Garzon town, in the southeast of Uruguay . The author of the project is the famous architect Rafael Vinoli. This form was created with good reason: it forces drivers to reduce speed, due to which pedestrians can safely move around Laguna Garzon.

What is interesting about the Laguna Garzon circular bridge in Uruguay?

The concrete structure of the bridge consists of two semicircular parts. She connected the cities of Maldonado and Rocha. Architect Vinoli explained his idea by the fact that, if necessary slowing down the speed, drivers not only care about the safety of passengers and pedestrians, but they also have the opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the landscape around the structure. Earlier in its place was a small ferry crossing on which very few cars could move. It functioned only at certain times of the day, and in bad weather conditions, traffic generally overlapped.

To date, Laguna Garzon can cross about 1 000 cars at a time. This contributes to the development of Rocha. Each half of the round bridge is a one-way road. The cost of construction is $ 11 million. The bridge was erected in a year.

How to get there?

To see the round bridge, you need to move southeast of Maldonado along the A10 highway. On it you will reach Lake Garzon and you will be able to cross it over the bridge.
