Any national park is a collection of clean air, untouched nature, rivers and lakes, an incredible number of birds and animals, sometimes very rare. And in Brunei there is a similar place, famous for its black lake, which is also the largest in the country.
Acquaintance with a park of rest
The Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park is the national pride of Brunei . It is an important ecosystem of the country, as well as an important historical place, because It was here that the Dusun tribes lived for 500 years. The territory of the park occupies 7.8 km². In its forests, there are about 200 species of birds that are not afraid of people and are positively posing, 50 species of fish in the local lake and 80 species of mammals. All this beauty is open for everyone who wants - from a local resident to a tourist! The park is so beautiful and untouched that no cafes or other institutions were built here.
The Riddle of the Black Lake
In the center of the park there is the Snake Lake, whose water is of a dark color. Therefore, the locals call it Black. By the way, the snake should not be frightened. The name was associated with the ornate shape of the lake and nothing more.
On the shore of the lake you can rent a boat and swim up to two small islands located in its center. The islands are equipped for picnic, so there is no better place for complete privacy and reunion with nature.
Up to one of the islands there is a long wooden bridge, but, unfortunately, there are no log floors at the very beginning. Therefore, at present it is possible to get to the island only by boat.
How to get there?
The Tasek recreation park is located in the Tutong district in the central part of Brunei . Distance from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan is 70 km, from the city of Tutong - 27 km. The best way to come to rest in the park is a rented car. A small discomfort is the lack of signs on the roads, but friendly locals will gladly guide you. Or you can use an indispensable GPS-navigator. From the capital time is 1 hour.
Intercity bus service is, but it is worth remembering that the last flight is about 15:00 local time, so do not get back.
