Begnas

Begnas is a lake in Nepal , almost in the center of the country. It is located in the Pokhara valley, where, besides it, there are 7 more reservoirs , and occupies the second place in area, second only to Lake Pheva . Next to it, only half a kilometer away, there is another lake - Rupa , which is half the size. It is of artificial origin. The path between them is part of the popular route " Annapurna Skyline Trek".

Pond Features

In 1988, the water level in the lake was raised, overlapping the Khudi-Khola river, which takes its beginning. Due to this, the area of the lake's mirror also increased (at the same time the Rupa Lake was formed). The lake is famous for its clear water and the beauty of the surrounding landscapes.

Water flooded part of the former rice fields. Now, when the water level in the lake decreases (it varies depending on the season), in former fields swampy creeks are formed, where children and buffaloes bathe. There are no roads around the lake; residents of the villages located on the shore of their businesses go on boats.

Infrastructure

Near the lake there are several lodges and the boarding house Begnas Lake Resort. There you can rent a boat. You can buy souvenirs in the village of Begnas Bazaar.

How to get to the lake?

You can reach the lake by bus from Pokhara to the village of Begnas Bazaar. A car from Pokhara can be reached in about 40 minutes (you have to cover a distance of 16 km). Go follows H04 / Prithvi Hwy, then Lake Rd.
