Symptoms of cervical erosion

Minor defects in the form of wounds and small ulcers that appear on the mucous membrane of the cervix, in medical practice are called erosion, relating to a benign tumor. Before the application of colposcopy, erosion was a generalized and selective concept. During the examinations, gynecologists found redness on the mucous neck and made such a diagnosis. Today, the diagnosis, in addition to visual examination, includes examination of the neck under the microscope, advanced colposcopy and other tests, necessary studies.

Reasons for erosion

The mucous cervix of the uterus can be deformed for various reasons. There is acquired and inherent erosion. With congenital erosion ( pseudo-erosion of the cervix ), the prismatic epithelium protrudes beyond the cervical canal. The doctor sees erosion as velvety redness. It is believed that the cause of pseudo-erosion is a high level in the blood of progesterone. Acquired erosion is formed against a background of such diseases as chlamydia, gonorrhea, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, herpes virus and microplasmosis. Bacterial candidiasis and vaginosis can also cause erosion. Cervical injuries and abortion, gross sexual acts. The risk group includes women who have early sexual intercourse, often changing their sexual partners.

Symptoms of erosion

Unfortunately, signs of erosion of the cervix are too subtle. Few people study at home the vagina with a gynecological mirror, so do not neglect the planned gynecological examinations. Only the doctor knows exactly how to determine the erosion of the cervix and prescribe treatment.

However, women should be aware of what symptoms are noted in erosion, in order to urgently begin treatment if necessary. So, the first sign is a variety of excretions. With erosion, this is abundant leucorrhoea, purulent discharge and even blood. Do not confuse normal physiological mucous discharge with whites. Unlike pathological, such secretions are transparent, slightly whitish. If there are a lot of them, the color changes, and the smell becomes unpleasant, then the gynecologist needs help. In laboratory conditions, during erosion, an analysis of the secretions (a flap of the flora ), blood from the vein is carried out. This allows to determine whether there are chlamydia, herpes virus, gardnerella, papillomovirus, trichomonads and other pathogens in the body. Sometimes a biopsy is recommended.

If the question of whether there are erosion and the nature of the discharge they are, is more or less clear, then the other symptoms do not even lead to the thought of this disease. Thus, the pains in the lower abdomen, which occur during erosion, are fairly unexpressed and intermittent. They are easily confused with the sensations that arise in the premenstrual period. By the way, the bottom of the abdomen does not always hurt with erosion. In addition, with erosion it is painful to have sex, since the neck gets additional injuries.

If the inflammatory process is simultaneously taking place in the body, the temperature of the body may increase with erosion. The usual antipyretic agents will be effective only for a certain time, since they do not eliminate the focus of inflammation.

Treatment of erosion

Methods that allow women to get rid of erosion, abound. The doctor will tell you the most effective and at the same time the most sparing way. Traditional methods include drug treatment, cryodestruction, laser coagulation, diathermocoagulation and radio wave method.

Prevention

To avoid the formation of erosions, twice a day to take a shower, carefully choose partners, avoid casual connections and use contraceptives, since abortion is a colossal trauma to the cervix, increasing the risk of erosion at times.
