Pessary

Uterine rings are medical devices, the wearing of which is shown to women in certain diseases. The latter, as a rule, are associated with relaxation of the muscles of the anterior wall of the peritoneum. About the indications for the use of the uterine ring and how to properly use it, we will discuss in this article.

Application of the uterine ring

The uterine ring, also known as the gynecological pessary, is prescribed by specialists to women who have had problems with the lowering of the walls of the uterus and the vagina or their loss. For this disease is also characterized by concomitant omission of the urethra and rectum. This condition is caused by relaxation of the muscles of the entire pelvic floor or muscles of the anterior wall of the peritoneum.

The main function of the uterine rings is to hold the uterus and other organs affected by the disease in place. Over time, if the tone of the muscles is restored, the uterine ring is removed completely.

A royal ring can be prescribed during pregnancy, provided thunderstorm of a miscarriage.

Selection of the uterine ring

Types

There are several types of uterine rings, the choice of which is determined by the picture of the disease and the degree of relaxation of the muscles of the pelvic floor.

In simple and non-neglected cases, the doctor can place a royal ring of Schulz, made in the form of a figure eight, or Thomas's pessary, which has the form of a ring with a seal.

With a more pronounced manifestation of symptoms of omission and loss of the walls of the uterus and the vagina, the Goja ring is used. Prepared for insertion into the vagina, it has an S-shape.

Materials

Uterine rings can be rubber or silicone. In some models, metal frames are used, designed to change and fit the shape to the individual parameters of women.

Dimensions

Another criterion for choosing uterine rings is the size. The size of the ring on the package corresponds to its diameter. The size is determined by the doctor during the examination. Rings of smaller diameters are used by nulliparous women, larger ones give birth. In the case of the Schultz ring, the dimensions of the cervix are measured, since the "eight" is at one end abutting it, and the second is placed at the end of the vagina.

Installation of the uterine ring

The first time the royal ring is inserted by the attending physician, he also shows how to do it correctly. Later, depending on the disease pattern, a woman inserts the ring every morning after a dream or changes it once every few months.

In any case, when removing the ring, it must be washed with a soap solution and disinfected. To do this, the pessary is lowered into a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide and held for about three hours. After this, the uterine ring is smeared with vaseline and inserted back into the vagina.

This procedure is necessary to prevent possible complications from wearing the ring, for example, the development of inflammation and the subsequent adhesion process.

The classic Goja ring has a back (a wide part, which is understood upwards if the ring is put on the table). The ring is inserted with clean hands backwards. It should rest against the posterior vaginal vault. When the ring is correctly positioned, the cervix "looks" into its lumen. If the ring is not set correctly, it can painfully pressurize the urethra and cause discomfort when urination or defecation.

Contraindications to the use of the uterine ring

Uterine rings are contraindicated for wearing women who have an allergic reaction to the materials from which it is made.
