Squamous cell carcinoma

This is a kind of malignant formation, which develops only in the tissue of the epithelium. Pathology can be localized in any area, but usually it's skin, mucous membranes, soft tissues. Squamous cell carcinoma develops due to harmful long-term effects, for example, active sun, polluted air or chemicals.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin

The epidermis is most often affected. Skin cancer, as a rule, occurs against the background of keratosis. The latter can appear without special reasons at the age of more than 60 years. In order to develop, flat cells of carcinoma find certain conditions:

Recently, a direct link between the human papillomavirus and squamous cell carcinoma of the skin has been proven. The process is often caused by genetic and immune mechanisms.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the lung

In this case, the cause of cancer is smoking and inhaling harmful fumes, for example, in a mine, or dust and dirt in the air in the workplace. Carcinogenic substances, settling on the bronchi, cause cell damage and as a consequence, the development of carcinoma.

Cancer of the lung passes asymptomatically and spreads quickly to life important bodies. This greatly complicates the treatment. Often, therapy is supportive because of the inability to stop the pathogenic process. If the disease is miraculously detected at an early stage, part of the lung, affected by cancer, is removed.

Diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma

To identify squamous cell carcinoma physicians resort to the use of an antigen test. The cancer marker associated with this disease is designated by the Latin SCC. In case of successful treatment, the patient is instructed to take a test every six months for the detection of tumor markers.
