Ras Al Khore Reserve


The Ras Al Khore Reserve is an exceptional ecosystem located within the boundaries of Dubai . It is one of the few nature protected areas in the UAE .

general information

The Ras Al Khore Reserve is located at the outermost extremity of Creek Bay in Dubai. The area it occupies is 6 square kilometers. km. Since 1971 this water oasis is the only protected in the country. The International Wildlife Fund and the financial support of the National Bank of Dubai have created absolutely all conditions for the nesting of birds and the safety of other inhabitants.

What is interesting about the reserve?

Ras Al Khore is a beautiful islet of wild nature amidst urban fuss. This unique reserve is recognized by the world organization "Bird Life International" as the most important habitat for birds. It is interesting to know that:

  1. The Ras Al Khore Reserve is a resting place for many migratory birds flying between western Asia and eastern Africa, so there are about 20,000 waterfowls inhabiting more than 67 species.
  2. In Ras Al Khore, you can observe such birds as: green bee-eater, Bengal caterpillar, plover grass, muddock, decorated chibis, artifact, Persian cormorant, Egyptian herons, karavayki, hawks and Dunlin.
  3. Many species that live in the reserve are listed in the Red Book.
  4. The visiting card of the Ras Al Khore Reserve is beautiful and unusual birds - pink flamingos, their population reaches more than 500 individuals.
  5. About 180 species of animals and more than 50 plant species are distributed on the territory.
  6. This protected area is divided among themselves by mangrove and tropical thickets, various shrubs, solonchak shoals, marshes and lagoons and a couple more small islets.
  7. Ras Al Khore Reserve is the abode of beauty and purity of nature, it is a favorite place for ecotourism fans and ornithologists.

Center "Laguna" in the Reserve Ras Al Khore

Features of visit

Entrance to the territory is absolutely free. Friday is a day off, and the rest of the week is from 9:00 to 16:00.
