A powerful series of photos of people with face transplantation

CAUTION! PHOTOS OF THIS LENT are NOT RECOMMENDED FOR VIEWING IMPRESSIVE AND LOW-BODY PEOPLE!

Flipping pages of the Internet or printed publications, we are deliberately ready to be deceived, to see only beautiful retouched faces. Whether it's a politician, an actor or a sports star - we do not want to notice wrinkles, signs of fatigue, or extra pounds on the hips. As they say, beauty will save the world and the more this beauty, the better.

But now we will take an unprecedented step and look into the "hell hell" ...

French photographer Cyril Caine (Cyril Caine) made portraits of people who had undergone facial transplantation. All of its heroes in the past have experienced an accident, such as an accident, fire, domestic violence, improper handling of weapons, animal attacks or attempted suicide. As a result of what they experienced, they were left without the most important thing - they became faceless. And if our society is relatively tolerant to people who have lost limbs, then it is not possible to stay close to the disfigured persons by a few. Or none at all.

Deciding on an almost insane project Cyril was able only with the participation of Professor Bernard Duvanshel, the same one who in November 2005 conducted the world's first face transplant operation. Then the 38-year-old Isabel Dinuar, whose appearance was disfigured after the attack of the dog, became the patient of the French surgeon. Alas, a year ago, Isabel died of cancer, but after that successful operation she could live 11 more years.

It is known that today people who have been transplanted face are no more than fifty in the whole world.

Most of the transplantation and reconstruction operations were performed by the surgeon Bernard Duvanchel.

Photographer Cyril Kane claims that he did not pursue sensations and stayed away from voyeurism, but just wanted to show that his characters are people the same as us and they also have feelings:

"You should not be scared when you look at these portraits. They are victims, not you ... "
"Working on the pictures in the clinic, I became friends with one of her unusual patients, who wished to remain anonymous," says the photographer. "And do you know what he told me?" It turns out once, when he just crossed the road in the city, a passer-by guy shouted after him that he would rather let himself go to the bullet and not live with such ugliness! "

Alas, today the reality for people who have undergone an operation to reconstruct a person for the sake of an opportunity to live is severe and ruthless.

"Believe me, every person looks at you from every portrait, even if he does not have eyes ..." says Cyril Kane.

Well and most importantly - all the heroes of the photographer, despite the fact that they experienced awkwardness and fear of shooting, tried to convey gratitude to those who will look at them, with the help of the inclination of the head, an attempt to make a wrinkle or even a smile!
