Preparation and conduct of IVF should be clearly carried out at certain stages in a certain time, which ensures the successful completion of the procedure.
IVF: stages of the
The main stages of the IVF protocol are:
- stimulation of superovulation;
- puncture of ovaries with extraction of oocytes;
- fertilization of ova and embryo cultivation;
- implantation into the uterus of the embryo.
IVF stages by days
All stages of the IVF procedure should be carried out in exactly the days allocated for this according to the protocol. In order to know on which days certain stages of IVF should be held, there is a short protocol according to which the duration of each stage is clearly indicated:
- blockade of the pituitary gland with agonists GnRHR - from 3 to 12-17 day cycle;
- stimulation of the ovaries (simultaneously with blockade);
- puncture of ovarian follicles to extract eggs (14-20 days from the onset of stimulation);
- transfer of a fertilized embryo to the uterus (3-5 days after puncture);
- support of the yellow body with progesterone preparations (up to control of hCG at 12-20 after transfer);
- control of pregnancy (ultrasound) on days 12-14 after the transfer, the duration of all stages from 28 to 35 days.
The stages of IVF differ slightly when using antagonists of GnRH for the in vitro fertilization:
- stimulation starts from 2 - 5 days of the cycle and takes 8-12 days;
- puncture is carried out on the 10-14 day from the onset of stimulation;
- embryo transfer is performed 3-5 days after ovarian puncture;
- support for the yellow body with progesterone is administered for 12 days;
- control of pregnancy - 12-14 days after embryo transfer, the total duration of IVF stages is 25-31 days.
Stages of preparation for IVF
In addition to the IVF itself, which is carried out exactly according to the protocol on certain days, it is very important to prepare for it a woman several months before the procedure.
On the eve of IVF, a number of examinations are carried out: determine the ovarian reserve, carry out operational preparation of the uterus and tubes for IVF (according to indications), check the spermogram of the partner. Of the mandatory tests, the woman gives a general blood test, a blood test for syphilis, HIV, hepatitis, the presence of antibodies to rubella. A woman is examined by a gynecologist and takes vaginal swabs.
