How to decipher the result?
A positive MAR-test is a conditional criterion, according to which a diagnosis of infertility can be made. With a positive MAR test, the number of active-mobile spermatozoa that are covered with antisperm antibodies is more than 50%. Normally, their percentage should be less than 50%, then the Mar-test is considered negative. In other words, a positive MAR test is a direct indication for the beginning of treatment.
How does the MAR test pass?
In order to detect the presence of antisperm antibodies, the ejaculate is subjected to microscopic examination. At the same time, blood sampling is carried out by ELISA, for the presence of antisperm antibodies in the blood of a man.
These two types of research complement each other, so they should be held together. At the same time, special training is not required for blood donation for such a study. After the behavior of the above two tests, the MAR test is deciphered.
What if the MAR-test is 100%?
With this result, the likelihood that a woman will become pregnant with such a man is negligible. Therefore, when receiving this result, the couple are advised to apply to a clinic specializing in IVF . It is carried out with the following indicators:
- presence of active mobile spermatozoa in sperm of less than 0.5 million;
- the mobility of spermatozoa is disturbed;
- presence of anomalous flagella in spermatozoa;
- the number of normal spermatozoa is less than 1%.
Thus, the MAR-test of sperm allows not only to outstrip the number of normal spermatozoa in the ejaculate, but also actively used in the diagnosis of such a disease as infertility in men , and allows faster initiation of appropriate treatment.
