As is known, young planting of thuja requires special and thorough care before the onset of frost. Adult plants almost always hibernate well, but the fragile root system of young animals requires careful preparation. 1. To slow the growth around the end of August, we stop all nitrogen fertilizing. Approximately with the beginning of autumn, we begin to conduct sanitary pruning, not too strong.
2. The next step in preparing for winter is to feed in autumn special preparations for the root system. This is the most common "Kornevin", which will help the roots adapt to the cold and survive the frosts.
3. Preparing the Tui for winter in early November implies the shelter of the basal circle. To do this, fallen leaves from the garden, which mix a bit with the ground, will come in handy. This method will not allow the roots to freeze, will retain moisture and in the future receive additional fertilizing.
