Pregnancy after 40 years

Increasingly, women postpone pregnancy, in the hope of first finding a stable income and creating all the conditions for the safe rearing of the child. And sometimes, late pregnancy, after 40, is caused by any medical problems. In any case, late pregnancy and childbirth pose a danger to the health of both women and babies.

"I'm pregnant, I'm 40 years old"

Why birth after 40 is considered dangerous? It should be noted that a woman is getting old, and eggs are growing older together with her. Already after 30 years, female eggs become less viable, however, like male spermatozoa.

Of course, one can always resort to artificial insemination. However, a positive result in IVF is guaranteed in only 40% of cases. And when the age reaches 40-43 years, the success of in vitro fertilization is reduced to 10%.

How does pregnancy and childbirth take place at 40?

Pregnancy in itself is a load for the body. A late pregnancy after 40 years, often leads to miscarriages. The risk of giving birth to a baby with a variety of congenital pathologies is greatly increased. By the way, late second pregnancy does not guarantee that it will proceed safely. If between births there is an interval of 10 years, the second late pregnancy is equated to the first and, also, fraught with complications.

Nevertheless, a woman can reduce existing risks by supporting a certain regime, as well as getting rid of bad habits.

  1. First of all, try to reduce physical activity. Pregnancy after 40 years provokes a decrease in immunity. This is a natural condition, since the body is able to take the developing fetus as a foreign body and try to get rid of it. Therefore, as rarely as possible visit public places and, as much as possible walk on park avenues.
  2. Down with a high pin! Pity your legs and do not rush to buy varicose veins.
  3. Revise your diet. The menu should have more products with a high content of B9 or folic acid, which is necessary for the formation of the child's nervous system. The source of B9 is spinach, greens, legumes, carrots, tomatoes, beets, oatmeal and buckwheat, fish caviar, liver, eggs, milk and bread from wholemeal flour.
  4. Ensure the normal functioning of the excretory system. This will be greatly helped by tea, prepared from a sprig of parsley with a little addition of lemon juice. Also, excellent work of the intestine can be achieved by drinking on an empty stomach 200-400 ml of warm water and then doing several squats.
  5. Try to lead a measured lifestyle, without overload and lack of sleep. Positive emotions will benefit both the developing fetus and the expectant mother.
  6. More often rest lying down. The horizontal position doubles the blood flow through the uterus. And it is favorable for the development of the fetus.
  7. In the first trimester, watch your weight. Pregnant for 40 is not recommended at this time to gain more than two kilograms.
