Piquation of root celery

The plant root celery is characterized by a long vegetation period, which is about 200 days. In the process of growing, a pickling of root celery seedlings into deeper and more voluminous tanks is required. Due to this, the root system of the plant develops, and its survival in the open ground is easier.

Do I need to pick a celery root?

Many vegetable growers have a question: is it necessary to dive the root celery ? There is a method of growing this plant when the seeds are immediately sown in separate containers having a volume of 6x6 cm. In this case, the picking is not carried out. When you need to land in the open ground, grown seedlings are planted together with an earthen lump.

How to pick a celery root?

Pickling of the celery root is carried out at the stage of the appearance of two real leaves. Prepare the containers with a moistened nutrient mixture in which the wells are made. The seedlings are removed from the previous container using a spatula, separated and planted in wells so that the root does not bend and maintain its vertical position. Water is poured into the hole and covered with earth. Seedling should be planted at such a depth that the point of growth is not covered with soil.

The question of the need to pinch root root celery causes a lot of disagreement. There are two points of view:

  1. When extracting the plant from the previous capacity, the rootlet, having a length of 5-6 cm, should be pricked by 0.5-1 cm. At the same time, root hairs are removed. This will contribute to the earlier formation of root vegetables.
  2. It is not necessary to hold the root of the root, since the plant will lag behind in growth, take longer to survive, and the root will be small.

Regardless of what you are inclined to, it is advisable to carefully remove the root of the plant, excluding its damage.

Seed care after picking

Upon completion of the picking process of the plant placed in a bright place, shaded from sunlight. After 10 days, the seedlings are fertilized with a solution of nitrophosphite (for 1 seedling 2 tablespoons each). The solution is prepared from the calculation of 1 teaspoon per 3 liters of water.

In the future, the care consists of good lighting, regular watering, and gradual hardening, which is started 2 weeks before landing in the open ground.

Knowing how to properly dive the celery root, you can grow a healthy and strong seedling. This will help you to get a good harvest in the future.
