Panthenol from sunburn

Panthenol is a medicament based on dexopantenol, a derivative of pantothenic acid (a water-soluble vitamin B of group B). In the body, dexopanthenol is converted to pantothenic acid, which stimulates the regeneration of the mucous and skin, normalizes metabolic processes at the cellular level, increases the strength of collagen fibers. As an external agent, panthenol is used for burns, including sunburn, for dry skin, minor damage, cracks, dermatitis , eczema, ulcers, etc. For external use, dexopanthenol is available as an ointment, cream and spray, and can be found under the trade names:

Cream and ointment Panthenol from sunburn

Cream Panthenol is a white substance, reminiscent of the composition of the emulsion, and quickly absorbed into the skin. The effect of the cream is more pronounced than that of the spray, and it is suitable, in particular, for wet wounds. Therefore, it is recommended to use it to treat sunburn at the stage of opening the blisters formed.

Panthenol ointment is a homogeneous light yellow mass on a fatty basis. Of all the external agents, it is absorbed the worst, and it is used comparatively rarely to treat sunburns.
