Operation on the knee joint

Currently, there are several types of operations, with the help of which the work of the joint is effectively restored:

Operation on knee joint meniscus

Meniscus is a layer between the bones in the knee joint, which has a cartilaginous structure. Depending on the degree of damage, several types of operations are performed on the knee joint meniscus:

  1. Endoscopy - is performed through two small incisions along the sides of the knee, carried out for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, does not injure nearby tissues, rehabilitation takes place in a short time.
  2. Transplantation - removes part of the cartilage and is replaced by a donor or synthetic collagen transplant.
  3. The removal of the meniscus is partial or complete - it is carried out with full crushing of the meniscus or the appearance of complications. Complete removal is not desirable, since it leads to arthrosis, arthritis.

Operation to remove the Baker's cyst of the knee joint

This kind of surgery is performed as an unavoidable measure of the decision of the underlying disease, such as a break in the meniscus, since in this case the appearance of a cyst is a secondary disease. The operation is performed under local anesthesia and does not last long - up to half an hour. In the evening the patient goes home, and after 7 days the stitches are removed.

Arthroscopy of the knee joint

Arthroscopy is one of the types of operations on the knee joint. It is carried out by piercing the knee from both sides. On the one hand, an arthroscope is injected, thanks to which an image is displayed on the screen, and a special saline solution is supplied, which fills the joint cavity, which allows you to inspect the contents of the damaged joint. Through the second puncture, one or another instrument is introduced to carry out immediate surgical operations. Anesthesia is injected into the spinal cord.

Restoration after the operation of arthroscopy of the knee joint occurs in different ways, a full recovery comes about a month and a half later.
