In Tallinn there is one unusual museum, which is definitely worth a visit to everyone who is more than 27 years old. You seem to go on a journey in a time machine, because you will find here things from the distant past. The museum is called "Back to the USSR". From his visit, there are usually twofold feelings. On the one hand, you understand how far progress has made, and you are glad that you live in the modern world of high technologies with great opportunities. And on the other hand, you are covered with a veil of nostalgic melancholy, warming the heart with the warmest memories from the past.
Museum Foundation
The founders of the museum "Back to the USSR" did an incredible job of finding and selecting exhibits. It is difficult to say what is not here. All the main attributes of the Soviet era are gathered in these several halls. Here you will see:
- a collection of old equipment : the first Soviet televisions, typewriters, disk telephones, phonographs, video recorders, vacuum cleaners and much more (by the way, some devices are still in working order, but if you want to include something, you need to ask the museum employee);
- baby carriages, toys ;
- bicycles, motorcycles and retro cars ;
- clothing and footwear of the 70s and 80s ;
- Soviet printed publications (magazines, newspapers, posters, greeting cards);
- household items ;
- banknotes and coins of different denominations ;
- souvenirs with the symbols of the USSR ;
- furniture .
In the museum "Back to the USSR" there are even such rare exhibits as a real machine with sparkling water and a Soviet-style drill.
The longest time tourists stay in the hall, where exactly the interior of a standard apartment of those times is accurately reproduced. There is one room and a kitchen. Wherever you look, it seems that you have already seen it somewhere. The same sewing machine, exactly such a receiver, familiar to a painful service in the form of ceramic fish. And this is not surprising, because during the Soviet Union everyone had everything almost the same.
So that during a visit to the museum "Back to the USSR" you are not overwhelmed with sad nostalgia, the organizers included in the program the broadcast of old ads that were filmed 30-40 years ago. The spectacle is incredibly gay. The enthusiasm with which the crystal, porcelain and carpets were advertised, explains the "unhealthy passion" of all Soviet citizens to these everyday objects.
